What is Meditation.

We are so used to doing this that we are not usually fully aware of all of the thought activity that is going on. Why Meditate.

The main reason for meditation in psychic development is to make the mind as calm and quiet as possible thus allowing us to better connect to the spirit world and our higher self’s. The higher self is our existence in the higher dimensions or the spirit world, otherwise known as our soul.

We all have a connection to our soul but the strength of that connection is weakened by the continual chatter of our conscious thoughts. The connection becomes stronger when our conscious mind closes down when we are asleep. This is why our dreams are important, however it is often difficult to remember our dreams and even when we do it can be difficult to understand the messages within them.

When we meditate we can calm the mind and strengthen the connection to the higher realms and become closer to spirit but because we are still awake we can remember and understand what we find there. This makes meditation the most powerful tool in understanding our self’s, our lives and the reasons why we are here and what we need to learn. Through meditation we strengthen our intuition and the knowledge of our higher self’s will come through.

Meditation Techniques.

Meditation involves concentrating on something, to focus the attention of the mind and thus help prevent the random thoughts and chatter that is usually going on. This may be something that is looked at like a candle flame or a picture but it is often something that is listened too. This can include a single repetitive sound like our own breath or repeating a mantra to reach a state of deep relaxation where the mind will become open and lucid.

More specific results can be gained by listening to a guided visualisation, where we use our imagination to visualise ourselves in a particular place or situation according to what we hear. This is usually followed by a period of silence which creates a space where our higher self can come through and information can be passed into our conscious mind. The point of the visualisation before this is to take our mind to a specific place so that we can gain specific information.

Some meditation techniques will allow your mind to reach various states of consciousness and may take you to higher realms and dimensions.

Best Way to Meditate.

For the best results you should set aside a particular spot that will be used every time you meditate. It should be a quiet place where there are no distractions.

You should be comfortable to a point where you able to be still for a long time but not so comfortable that you are likely to fall asleep. Many people find that the best way to do this is to sit up straight on a chair.

If possible you should meditate before a meal rather than just after eating.

Ideally the best time of day to meditate is early in the morning. Although meditation is beneficial to us whatever time of day we choose. It is said that early morning meditation is more effective as our mind is still relatively quiet after sleep and before the hustle and bustle of the day has begun. However it is much more important that you have plenty of time in which to meditate. If you are worried about how long you are spending and thinking about where you need to be or what you need to get done then you will not be able to relax properly.

So what’s this got to do with Jay Leno?

During my recent trip to the gorgeous countryside of Massachusetts for my husband’s Prep School Reunion at Northfield Mount Hermon, I began to evaluate my life. We stayed on campus and being in the environs of educational life evoked distant memories. I felt nostalgic. I didn’t have regrets. However, a sense of urgency arose within me to achieve way beyond my current accomplishments. Set new goals. Challenge myself. Believe in myself.

I began writing my Life plan. I closed my eyes and focused inwards. A big goal of mine is to be an international best selling author. I asked myself, “Who would I love to be interviewed by when that happens?” Jay Leno immediately sprung to mind. I love “The Tonight Show”. Which led me to:

Step #2 My Visualization Process

So I wrote down my goal “Be interviewed by Jay Leno”. I imagined what it would be like talking with him and the fun we’d be having and the specifics of the conversation. The reality is it was rather wild. I’ll tell all in a little while!

It’s important to combine step #1 by being persistent in your visualization process. You don’t do it once and then think, “My goal didn’t happen, this visualization stuff doesn’t work”. Consistent persistence is key!

During my week’s stay in Massachusetts, I imagined talking with Jay while I was running laps on the track, in the car driving around Boston, sitting on the plane flying back to Los Angeles, even while I was brushing my teeth. I was inspired by Sam Walton’s tenacity when I read his autobiography “Made in America”. Even when I felt a little bit silly imaging chatting with Jay Leno, I silenced my inner critic and told myself “Why not? I’m interesting, talented and have a good heart.”

What do you do when your still hear the self-sabotaging voice? Keep visualizing and tap into the feeling of optimism that if it’s for the highest good, your wish will come to fruition.

Step #3 ACTION

Believing is not enough. You have to take physical steps to get the results you desire. As much as I’d like opportunities to land in my lap, I’ve discovered that by having willingness to take action and walking my talk, doorways open.

Well here’s the fabulous door that opened. Two days after we arrived home from Boston, my husband Nick and I are sitting on the sofa and the phone rings. It’s his Mom Jane. “We’ve been invited to go on the Jay Leno show on Friday do you want to go?” Nick said.

“Yes!” I said, leaping into the air.

Nick didn’t understand why I was this excited. I hadn’t told him I’d been doing this visualization process for days. I was in awe at the coincidence of events that I prefer to perceive as synchronicity.

I woke up on Friday like a child on Christmas Day. “We’re going to “The Tonight Show” I squealed. I wanted to enjoy every moment of this. I had so much fun. Scott who worked on the show, gave up the royal tour of the lot at NBC. It was inspiring seeing the costume department and the area where future sets were being built. Finally we entered the studio and my heart leaped in joy as I was lead to my seat in the second row. In my mind, it was a fortuitous sign that I would indeed, be interviewed by Jay at a later date.

“My visualization worked gorgeous, it worked!” I said, grabbing at Nick’s arm. I remembered how I’d been sitting on the plane and imaging this moment a couple of days before. Why not do a little more?

As people milled into the studio, I took one good long look at the stage and then I turned behind me to take in the details of the audience before I closed my eyes. I took several deep breaths into my body and pretended that I was up on stage with Jay having a fabulous conversation about my book “Unleash The Psychic In You”.

I opened my eyes and felt content of the possibility I would talk to him at a later date. Moments later Jay Leno came out onto the set. The audience whooped and cheered. I could hardly contain myself. Now this is where step #3 is super important. Visualization is great however you have to take action.

Would you like to know how I ended up on stage?

“Would anyone like to come on up?” Jay said.

This is why I used the Robert Allen’s quote “Everything you want is just outside your comfort zone”.

I leaped out of my seat, raised my hand and shouted “Me, Jay, I do!” I couldn’t believe I did that. I was setting myself up for rejection, feeling foolish. What if he blanked me? In that moment, which felt excruciatingly drawn out, I saw how the persistent practice of visualizing had created such a strong desire in me at an unconscious level. Despite my conscious fear of being embarrassed, I took action and asked for what I desired.

“The tall enthusiastic blond, come join me,” Jay said.

“Yes!” I made my way quickly onto the set.

“What’s your name?” Jay said.

“Joanna,” I said.

“And where are you from Joanna?” Jay said.

“London, England” I said.

“Oh, London, England!” Jay said mimicking my British accent.

“Yes Jay,” I said.

“And what do you do?” Jay said.

“I’m a Psychic Expert,” I said.

“Oohh!” The audience responded, intrigued.

“So if you were really psychic, you’d know that I wanted you to spank me,” Jay said.

“No problem Jay, I can do that right now,” I said.

I lent forward and pretended to slap Jay’s butt several times, with my husband standing next to me. It was hilarious. I was having such a blast. We talked for a few more minutes and then had a Polaroid taken of the three of us.

Before I left the stage I told Jay sincerely how much I love his work. I had a strong sense right then that I would be back on the show at a later date sitting in the hot seat talking about my best selling book.

Everyone has within them some amount of psychic ability. It is innate in people, just like the ability to paint or play a musical instrument. With training we can learn to play the piano, and in the same way we can learn to harness that psychic ability that is already within us.

The key to tapping into this force is focus.

The basis of every thing on earth, from the people to the plants, animals and things we create, is energy. Psychic skills have to do with tapping into that energy and gaining a better understanding of how energy works.

For a really quick example of the feeling of energy, rub your hands together for about 30 seconds. After you have done this, start with your hands a couple of feet apart and slowly bring them closer together, but don’t let them touch.

I would look for a psychic counselor who is recommended by someone who has had good guidance from them. Usually when we are seeking guidance, someone will give you the connection you need or you will feel like you want to try someone. Follow your intuition.

Then you have to have a positive experience and the person must validate to you something about yourself that they could not have known, or about something in the past. They have to get it right. You don’t necessarily have to test them, but listen to what they say. They may come out with something in the middle of nowhere. It’s good to record sessions so you don’t miss any of that. If you like them, then you may want to see them a couple more times to be sure. It is a matter of each person’s energy being in alignment with each other.

There are so many psychics out there. Everyone has their own way about getting information. From my teachings, it is my belief that each psychic can access different levels. I prefer people who can reach a very high vibrational level. But the higher you go, the more information you will get about what you can do to help yourself achieve your goals for the betterment of your soul. This wouldn’t be that satisfying to those wanting to know when the soulmate or the money is going to show up.

Generally, there are 3 types of counselors: Psychics or clairvoyants (which means clear-seeing), Mediums, and Trance Channelers. Some have triggers, like Tarot cards, Runes or automatic writing, and all can have varying degrees of heightened ability to see, hear or feel. We have that too, but may have not developed it, either in this life or in the past lives.

Mediums work with the astral realms, usually contacting deceased relatives. They can help to support the grief-stricken, but can be hit or miss, depending on their personal energy. This is because they are accessing an area where souls who have just passed on may be imparting info that may not be wholly correct, or will be true for the moment, as their spirit guides do not have the perspective that higher beings have on the other side.

Another is called a channeler, one who assumes a trance-like state. They can be in a more conscious condition when channeling or can be totally oblivious to what information is coming through them, not remembering anything that they said during a session. These people can be mediumistic in nature, as they are allowing access of another entity or energy to communicate, but can also be a translation of much higher vibrational forces, such as Ascended Masters or Archangels. It depends a lot on the energy and desire of the trance channel. Again, it is up to the individual seeker to determine what type of entities they want to deal with and what information they wish to receive.

Whoever you go to, if you are asking someone if you should do something and they tell you YES or NO, you do have the choice of taking the advice or not. They probably should be telling you what will happen if you DO try something, or what will be happening as of now, but which can change. Or they might tell you what options are available where it seems as if there would be positive outcomes.

Watch out for those who use fear to extract money from you. If you go to someone and they offer to release a supposed curse on you, or have them put a “spell” on someone for you by charging you money, that’s a red flag. Get up and walk out, holding no ill will toward that person. Also beware of the phone-in, pay-by-the-minute types, as you can’t really know who you are connecting with and it can get very expensive quickly.

If you are looking for predictions, remember that no one can really get the future 100% all the time. We have free will, and what is true one minute will change the next depending on the thoughts and feelings we are having and the actions we take. Potentials are always hazy for any psychic. There are just so many variables to foretelling the future. In a nutshell, our free will and karmic condition will form the basis for most of our future events, and both can be altered.

Outside guidance is good, but your heart always knows the truth, so use it. If you ask yourself a question, check out how you feel about it. Do you get a feeling of “Yes, I want to pursue this. This is exciting.” or “No, I feel like I don’t want to move on this right away.” Or it may be that in your mind you want to do it, but you just feel like it would be too hard, like you have to work to get yourself to do it. To me, a “no” is like a feeling of pushing up against an invisible wall.

Find a psychic counselor who you can trust and use their information as guidance, not the final answer. We all need a little help making a decision once in a while, or confirmation that we are headed in the right direction, and a good psychic that you can trust can help you a lot. But in the end, trust your gut feelings and trust your heart, that’s your best guidance, because your heart is the pathway to your Soul, the place of your individual truth.

Besides Applied Kinesiology, Pendulum Reading is also a good alternative that does not require psychic ability. When used in conjunction with a YES/NO chart, the pendulum can be used to provide Yes/No response to queries.

In addition custom-made charts can also be tailored to very specific inquiries. For example, degree or percentage chart can be used to indicate degree of intensity.

Like Applied Kinesiology,the pendulum reading session needs to start with the clearing of potential negative influences for clear and accurate answers.

Well, these are the tools for divination and spiritual inquiry that doesn’t need one to be psychic. In fact, one will be surprised at the ease of performing these divinations.
